Rikki and Daz
are the biggest duo to hit the pop and dance scene since MC Miker "G"
and Deejay Sven. On 18th November the Manchester based twosome release
their storming debut, "Rhinestone Cowboy (Giddy Up Giddy Up)"
on Serious Records.
Only this time
Rikki and Daz have gone one step further than the DJ Otzi's of this
world and enlisted the help of a true legend, Mr Glen Campbell, the
original Rhinestone Cowboy himself, to make this genius track.
Rikki and Daz have
always been big Glen fans and recorded a demo of the cowboy classic,
which was picked up by Chris Moyles on Radio 1. By a sheer twist of
fate the tune reached Glen's ears over the communication highway they
call the world-wide-web and the rest is history.
Glen
was so impressed with the tune his management got in touch with Rikki
and Daz and just a week later, they were at Glen's palatial Phoenix
ranch laying down a new vocal from the legend. The man himself also
features in the gun- twirling and lasso-throwing video, shot in the
depths of the Arizona desert, looking every inch a Rhinestone Cowboy
(riding round on a horse at a star-spangled rodeo
)
Now, with the backing
of Radio 1's Chris Moyles, The Box and even Popbitch (thanks to which
it has been downloaded over 3000 times) it looks like Rikki and Daz,
with a bit of Glen's magic, aren't far away from gracing the stages
of Top Of The Pops and CD:UK. Glen has signed up for promotion on the
track - the first time he's agreed to promote someone else's record
since his days as a touring member of the Beach Boys.
"Rhinestone Cowboy" will be released on 18th November.
